Valley extends road losing streak to 23

Recap: Valley Vikings vs. West Campus Warriors

This season hasn't been kind to the Valley Vikings, who are still winless after their 22nd game. They were outmatched by West Campus on the road and fell 59-16. While losing is never fun, Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1242nd, while West Campus is ranked 392nd).

Oscar Zaragoza was Valley's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

West Campus found their leader in underclassman Zach Villanueva, who scored 17 points along with five steals. Villanueva is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Edmund Michalski, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Valley's loss was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-22. As for West Campus, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley on the road again on Monday and play against Johnson at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. Johnson is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for West Campus, they will head out on the road to face off against Cordova at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cordova has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,258 points over their last 19 games.
