Volleyball Recap: Winfield Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Aubree Schott and Addy Cassinger

Winfield lost against Fort Zumwalt North back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors fell 3-1 to the Panthers. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-20 in the first set.

Winfield started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21.

Despite the defeat, Winfield had strong showings from Addy Cassinger, who had 21 digs and three assists, and Aubree Schott, who had 11 assists and eight digs.

Fort Zumwalt North was led to victory by Payton Buckman and Gabbi Cusumano. Buckman had 15 digs and two assists, while Cusumano had 11 kills, seven digs, and one block. Those seven digs gave Cusumano a new career-high.

Winfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7-1 record this season. As for Fort Zumwalt North, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winfield will square off against Fort Zumwalt South at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Fort Zumwalt North, they will welcome Fort Zumwalt West at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
