Softball Recap: Hammond Central Drops Season-High Score on Michigan City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hammond Central). They walked away with a 29-25 victory over Michigan City on Saturday. The win was nothing new for Hammond Central as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hammond Central got a massive performance out of Neveena Funches, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Johanna Harper, who got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Hammond Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .763. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hammond Central now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Michigan City, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond Central will host Gary West Side at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Michigan City, they will be playing at home against Merrillville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.78 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
