Softball Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

After flying high against Garinger last Tuesday, Butler came back down to earth. The Butler Bulldogs lost 13-3 to the Providence Panthers on Friday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Alyssa Rubidoux and Peyton Bowar stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rubidoux scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Bowar went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave Rubidoux a new career-high in hits. Lauryn Williams also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Providence, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Coming up, Butler will head out on the road to take on East Mecklenburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence, they will square off against Myers Park at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Myers Park will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
