Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Poway Titans
Torrey Pines is 10-0 against Poway since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Torrey Pines Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Poway Titans at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Torrey Pines' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Torrey Pines pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Mater Dei Catholic by a score of 59-57.
Despite the defeat, Torrey Pines saw an underclassman step up: Tevaris Green dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Zylicz, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Clairemont scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, Poway still came out on top. Poway took their match against Clairemont 70-57. The victory was some much needed relief for Poway as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Their wins bumped Torrey Pines to 6-2 and Mater Dei Catholic to 2-2.
Everything came up roses for Torrey Pines against Poway in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Torrey Pines since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
