Ponte Vedra fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against St. Joseph Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the St. Joseph Academy Flashes. The Sharks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Ponte Vedra got a good showing from Hunter Alba, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Alba has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Luca Candella was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Grady Hartman, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Ponte Vedra's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for St. Joseph Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Coming up, Ponte Vedra will face off against Bishop Snyder at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will take on Matanzas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph Academy is facing Matanzas at the right time seeing as Matanzas is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
