Softball Recap: Colerain Takes a Loss

If Colerain was feeling good fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Middletown on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell just short of the Sycamore Aviators by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Cardinals have struggled against the Aviators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Olivia Woodson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Woodson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Aubrey Meyer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Colerain's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Sycamore, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Colerain will challenge Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sycamore, they will take on Archbishop McNicholas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aviators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
