On Friday, the Westlake Academy Blacksmiths were fully in charge, breezing past the Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles 46-14. The Blacksmiths have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Maya Sonday was her usual excellent self, putting up 21 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Westlake Academy's points. Madeline Dorr was another key player, scoring eight points.

The victory made it two in a row for Westlake Academy and bumps their season record up to 15-12. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.5 points over those games. As for Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
