Basketball Recap: Nine Straight Home Victories for Clearwater Central Catholic

Clearwater Central Catholic extended their home winning streak to nine games thanks to a huge performance from DJ Gibson. The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders walked away with a 51-38 victory over the Northside Christian Mustangs on Monday thanks in part to Gibson, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 16 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Despite the loss, Northside Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elijah Ahlers dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ahlers is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jon Myers, who posted five points and five rebounds.

Clearwater Central Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Northside Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-16.

Clearwater Central Catholic will take on Tampa Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tampa Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season. Northside Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
