Baseball Recap: Pioneer Triumphs

Pioneer gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Vanden Vikings 5-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2025.

Joe Mendez tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cisco Quintana was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Easton Medina was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Pioneer's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Vanden, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.

Pioneer will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
