Baseball Recap: Hialeah Gardens Comes Up Short

After flying high against Dr. Krop on Monday, Hialeah Gardens came back down to earth. The Gladiators fell 5-0 to the Varela Vipers on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Gladiators in their meetings with the Vipers: they've now lost six in a row.

Anthony Perez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Hialeah Gardens' loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Varela, their win bumped their record up to 3-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hialeah Gardens will challenge TERRA Environmental at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Varela, they will face off against Keys Gate at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
