Baseball Game Preview: Elyria Catholic Panthers vs. Midview Middies

The Elyria Catholic Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Midview Middies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elyria Catholic is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Elyria Catholic is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since April 10, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against University School, falling 7-1. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Panthers' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Meanwhile, Midview fell victim to North Ridgeville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Rangers. The defeat continues a trend for the Middies in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost three in a row.

Midview got a good showing from Jacob Armburger, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

Elyria Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Midview, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Elyria Catholic beat Midview 12-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2015. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
