Softball Recap: Reese Takes a Loss

Reese had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 15-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Unionville-Sebewaing Patriots, falling 18-0. If the Rockets were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Patriots when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Unionville-Sebewaing, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Unionville-Sebewaing's part, Olivia Green made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Green has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Unionville-Sebewaing got a massive performance out of Kate Beagle, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Beagle has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Jubar, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Unionville-Sebewaing beat Reese by a score of 8-4 later that day.
