Soccer Game Preview: Bernstein vs. Sylmar

The Bernstein Dragons will square off against the Sylmar Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bernstein is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.

Bernstein is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Marquez a 2-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Dragons sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Edwin Alvarez and Brandon Guerra scored both of Bernstein's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Meanwhile, Sylmar hasn't lost a match since January 29th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Canoga Park 2-1. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Hunters are ranked 716th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bernstein pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matchups. As for Sylmar, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
