Soccer Game Preview: Raleigh Charter vs. Franklin Academy

The Raleigh Charter Phoenix will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Raleigh Charter managed to keep up with NCSSM: Durham until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Phoenix came up short against the Unicorns, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for Raleigh Charter in their meetings with NCSSM: Durham: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Wake Prep Academy a 7-0 shutout. Considering Franklin Academy have won 13 matches by more than three goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Wake Prep Academy from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Kayla Rice led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Franklin Academy pushed their record up to 17-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those seven games. As for Raleigh Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1.

Raleigh Charter suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Franklin Academy in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
