Softball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights

Tipton is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to square off against the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights at 5:30 p.m. Lafayette Central Catholic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Tipton, who comes in off a win.

Tipton is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since May 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They never let Tri-Central get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won six in a row.

Not much got past Ella Lobeck, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Tri-Central off the board.

On the hitting side, Tipton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Nasser, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Tipton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-Central struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Central Catholic lost 13-2 to Fountain Central on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Julia Mazur was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Auna Silver, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Lafayette Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Tipton, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Tipton beat Lafayette Central Catholic 3-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
