Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boonville Pioneers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Mt. Vernon still got an impressive performance from Meyer Robb, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 22 points. Thanks to that strong game, Robb now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. Greyson Buse was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Boonville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-9.

Looking ahead, Mt. Vernon will welcome Tecumseh at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. As for Boonville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-40 loss against Castle on the 15th.
