Softball Recap: Muhlenberg County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Butler County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Muhlenberg County). They put the hurt on the Butler County Bears with a sharp 16-2 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Bella McCarraher spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abry Carver was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (three). Joshlynn Noe was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Muhlenberg County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Muhlenberg County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Butler County, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-23.

Coming up, Muhlenberg County will head out on the road to challenge Caldwell County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Butler County, they will take on Ohio County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
