Basketball Recap: Vail Christian Comes Up Short

Vail Christian played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 53-17 loss at the hands of the West Grand Mustangs. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Sara Lechman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Grand, going 10 of 15 en route to 23 points along with eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Lechman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaila Gifford, who posted 11 points and seven steals.

Vail Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for West Grand, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Vail Christian will welcome Soroco at 2:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for West Grand, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 25-24 win against Plateau Valley on the 18th.
