Baseball Recap: Spokane Gets the Win

Spokane came out on top against Verona on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Owls walked away with a 14-10 win over the Wildcats. This was payback for the Owls, who suffered a 7-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Landon Dollarhide looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Spokane got a massive performance out of Logan Rollings, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Rollings has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ethan Newell, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Spokane and bumps their season record up to 8-17. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Verona, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Coming up, Spokane will face off against Ava at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Verona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
