Softball Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Palma Chieftains

North Salinas is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Palma a nine-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The North Salinas Vikings will be playing at home against the Palma Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, North Salinas came up short against Salinas and fell 7-3.

Meanwhile, Palma didn't have quite enough to beat Watsonville on Friday and fell 2-1.

Sophia Cardinale put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 11.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Cardinale wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Palma's loss dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for North Salinas, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
