Softball Recap: Santiam Wolverines vs. Regis Rams
Santiam extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 13-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Regis Rams. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolverines have suffered against the Rams since May 3, 2018.
Lindsey Briley was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Maddie Allen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
As for Regis, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs across that stretch.
On Regis' side, Azzilin Smith and Olivia Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Adams went 4-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Adams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Foster, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santiam will take on Culver at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Regis, they will challenge East Linn Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
