Softball Recap: Maine-Endwell Has No Trouble Against Johnson City

The matchup between Maine-Endwell and Johnson City on Tuesday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Spartans blew past the Wildcats 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Tessa L'Amoreaux made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Hurba, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Emily Bealla was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs.

Maine-Endwell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Maine-Endwell and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Johnson City, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

As of now, neither Maine-Endwell nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
