Preview: Hancock County Indians vs. Washburn Pirates

Hancock County is 10-0 against Washburn since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hancock County Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Washburn Pirates at 8:00 p.m. Hancock County is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Hancock County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-51 to Cumberland Gap.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-48, which was the final score in Washburn's tilt against Unaka on Tuesday. Washburn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-18.

Matthew Harville put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 6 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 0 assists. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Dillion Mullins, who scored ten points along with five assists.

Hancock County's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Washburn, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Hancock County strolled past Washburn in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 58-43. Will Hancock County repeat their success, or does Washburn have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
