Basketball Recap: Oasis Academy Takes a Loss

Oasis Academy lost against West Wendover two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Oasis Academy Bighorns took a blow against the West Wendover Wolverines, falling 69-37. The Bighorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-15.

Fenn Mackedon and Trevor Barrenchea certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mackedon went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points and seven boards, while Barrenchea posted ten points.

Adryan Carlos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Wendover, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Carlos is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Jacob Alvarez was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 13 points and five boards.

Oasis Academy's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for West Wendover, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Oasis Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-48 loss against North Tahoe on the 28th. As for West Wendover, they will head out on the road to challenge Battle Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Battle Mountain sitting on seven straight victories and West Wendover on nine.
