Basketball Recap: Oregon Starts Season with Win Against Amboy

Oregon took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They came out on top against the Amboy Clippers by a score of 36-29. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 46-36 victory the Clippers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Oregon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aniyah Sarver out in front who posted eight points along with ten rebounds and five steals. Sarver has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last nine times she's played. Avery Kitzmiller was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Oregon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Oregon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Aurora Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amboy, they will be playing at home against Serena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
