Volleyball Recap: Liberty Patriots vs. Centennial Bulldogs

After flying high against Desert Oasis last Tuesday, Liberty came back down to earth. The Liberty Patriots fell just short of the Centennial Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.

Liberty wouldn't go down easily and took Centennial into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from ARYANNA PAREDES, who had 22 digs.

Kiersten Cummings went supernova for Centennial, getting 23 digs. Cummings is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Liberty moved to 13-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Centennial, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Southeast Career Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. After both having extra time off, Centennial and Coronado will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Coronado comes in on four and Centennial on three.
