Alleghany has gone 9-1 against Floyd County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cougars will square off against the Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. Alleghany is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Alleghany came up short against Glenvar and fell 7-2.

Meanwhile, Floyd County can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against Radford by a score of 7-3.

Floyd County got a great performance from Gavin Swortzel as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Swortzel a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Adam Petty was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Bakely, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Floyd County's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Alleghany, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Alleghany was able to grind out a solid victory over Floyd County when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-4. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Buffaloes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
