Basketball Recap: Ashya Dingle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holbrook over Abington

On Friday, the Holbrook Bulldogs were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-34 to the Abington Green Wave. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashya Dingle, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That was a full 35.3% of Holbrook's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Tran, who had eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Holbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Holbrook now has a losing record at 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holbrook will welcome West Bridgewater at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Abington will take on Rockland in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
