Basketball Recap: Antioch Comes Up Short

Antioch was the 55-35 winner over Coal City when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Antioch Sequoits lost to the Coal City Coalers on the road by a 51-36 margin on Monday.

Despite the loss, Antioch still got an impressive performance from Heidi Rathmann, who posted 20 points. The game was Rathmann's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tess Delao, who put up ten points.

Antioch's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Coal City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

The future could be bright for both Antioch and Coal City: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Antioch will try to hand Lakes their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Meanwhile, Coal City will try to hand Sandwich their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:45 p.m. on January 8th.
