Baseball Game Preview: Hudson Hornets vs. Palestine Wildcats

Hudson has gone a perfect 10-0 against Palestine recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hudson 3.3, Palestine 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Hudson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Rusk on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Alberto Ibarra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Hudson: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-9-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Cutter Warren was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Palestine narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Center 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Palestine pushed their record up to 17-5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hudson, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-10-1.

Hudson skirted past Palestine 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
