Frostproof is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Avon Park just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 4-3.

Luke Thornton was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abel Nedley, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. DeSoto County is 3-1 when Nedley posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise. Trenton Alley was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

DeSoto County's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Frostproof, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
