Recap: Spalding Jaguars vs. Wayne County Yellow Jackets
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Spalding Jaguars had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against Wayne County by a score of 34-21. The victory was just business as usual for Spalding, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Spalding was led to victory by Cedric Evans and Dwight Terrell. Evans picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Terrell rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Spalding also got a significant boost from Robert Henderson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Despite the loss, Wayne County still got an impressive performance from Matthew Fuller, who rushed for 249 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Fuller was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards.
Spalding pushed their record up to 11-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Wayne County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Spalding will be playing at home against Troup County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wayne County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
