West Central came out on top against Lafayette Jefferson on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Trojans put the hurt on the Bronchos with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jalie Glasford spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Sydney Mellon and Brooklynn Lattimore did most of the damage at the plate: Mellon went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Lattimore went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
