Baseball Game Preview: Kettering Captains vs. Seaholm Maples

For the second straight game, Kettering will face off against Seaholm. The Captains will face off against the Maples at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kettering is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Monday, Kettering came up short against Seaholm and fell 5-1.

For Seaholm's part, Patrick Hughes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hughes has become a key player for Seaholm: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-14-3 otherwise. Hughes was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam McDonald, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 15 games.

Seaholm pushed their record up to 12-15-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kettering, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1.
