Baseball Game Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Yates Center Wildcats

Northeast is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Yates Center a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Northeast Vikings will welcome the Yates Center Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Northeast's last matchup with Galena could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Vikings came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jayden Wetzel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has become a key player for Northeast: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 1-6 otherwise.

Yates Center's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Everything went Northeast's way against Yates Center in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Northeast made off with a 19-5 win. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
