Softball Recap: Wheatland Starts Season with Victory Against South

Wheatland took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against the South Bison as Wheatland made off with an 18-7 victory. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21, 2024.

Sophie Meyer was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Mickelsen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Wheatland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

South's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Wheatland and South will both be playing Rock Springs the next time they take the field. South will head out to face Rock Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Wheatland will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on April 12.
