Football Recap: Wewoka Tigers vs. Gore Pirates

A victory for Wewoka just wasn't in the cards on Thursday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 34-6 loss at the hands of the Gore Pirates. The Tigers lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in November of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-0 score last time.

Despite the loss, Wewoka saw an underclassman step up: Ladarius Woods rushed for 56 yards, and also threw for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Wewoka's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Gore, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wewoka will face off against Talihina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Talihina is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 42.2 points per game this season. As for Gore, they will host Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Gore likes a good challenge.
