The matchup between El Campo and Calhoun on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The El Campo Ricebirds' defense stepped up to hand the Calhoun Sandcrabs an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Ricebirds have won 11 games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

El Campo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those ten contests. Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
