Softball Recap: Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-12 to make it 11. They came up short against the Sahuarita Mustangs, falling 15-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Hannah DeBake was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

As for Sahuarita, their win bumped their record up to 23-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 contests by six runs or more this season.

On Sahuarita's side, they got a massive performance out of Mayrani Munoz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four hits gave Munoz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Romero, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Looking ahead, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Rincon/University at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. Sahuarita does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
