Costa Mesa extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Emma Freeland. The Mustangs simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Los Amigos Lobos 37-0 for which the team can thank Freeland, who threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 111 yards and one TD on only eight carries. She is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Myah Martinez was Freeland's top target, picking up 93 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Martinez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Costa Mesa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Sierra Kelly, Emi Kamikihara, and Aspen Addison picked up one apiece.
Costa Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Los Amigos, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.
Coincidentally, Costa Mesa and Los Amigos will both be playing Western the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Lobos will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on the 15th.
