Baseball Recap: Neshannock Has No Trouble Against Freedom Area

Neshannock's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Laurel on Monday. The Lancers blew past the Freedom Area Bulldogs 14-4. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Lancers this season.

Jake Rynd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rynd was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Anthony Eakin was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Pallerino, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Neshannock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Neshannock's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Freedom Area, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Neshannock will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
