Football Game Preview: Silliman Institute Wildcats vs. Jackson Prep Patriots

The Silliman Institute Wildcats will square off against the Jackson Prep Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Silliman Institute is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 32 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Oak Forest Academy on Friday. They fell 14-6 to the Yellowjackets. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jackson Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Copiah Academy 35-3 on Friday. Considering the Patriots have won five games by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Silliman Institute better keep an eye on Wade Smith. He was instrumental in Jackson Prep's win, rushing for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Smith has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aiden Rowe, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one TD.

Jackson Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Jackson Prep now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Silliman Institute, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
