Basketball Recap: Whiting Oilers vs. Westville Blackhawks

Whiting lost against Westville back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Oilers came up short against the Blackhawks, falling 51-27. The Oilers were down 43-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Whiting lost, don't look at Alexis Perez. Despite the final result, she posted eight points.

Leading Westville to victory were Hillary Labis and Ava Fenters. Labis dropped a double-double with 32 points and 14 rebounds, while Fenters earned 13 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Those eight assists gave Fenters a new career-high. Corgan Goszewski also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first rebound of the season.

Whiting's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Westville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.
