Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Jesuit's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It's playoff time, and Jesuit had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bonita Springs Bullsharks a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brady Hoar tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jesuit got a big performance out of Brody Smith, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Smith has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Waechter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Jesuit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Jesuit has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bonita Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13 record this season.

Jesuit will look to defend their home field on Monday against Countryside at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.3, the Cougars 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Bonita Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
