Volleyball Game Preview: Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls vs. Clovis Wildcats + How To Watch

After both having extra time off, the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls and the Clovis Wildcats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carlsbad took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hobbs by a score of 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cavemen/Cavegirls as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Carlsbad was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-13, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Clovis hadn't done well against Roswell recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Coyotes 3-2.

Clovis wouldn't go down easily and took Roswell into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-27, 21-25, 16-14.

Clovis' win came from a few key players Carlsbad will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brynn Petner, who had 15 kills, 14 digs, and four aces. Those 15 kills gave her a new career-high. Amor Soto was another key player, getting 15 digs and ten aces.

Carlsbad's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-14. As for Clovis, their record is now 9-10.
