Basketball Recap: Norland Vikings vs. Miramar Patriots
Norland lost to Miramar back in January of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Norland Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Miramar Patriots, sneaking past 44-42.
Norland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Oneal Norelus out in front who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Major, who posted six points in addition to five assists and five steals.
Norland was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miramar only racked up four assists.
Miramar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Joshua Skinner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Skinner is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Siah Blot, who scored 15 points and six rebounds.
Norland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Miramar, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
Norland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-49 win against Mater Academy Charter on the 16th. Miramar has also already played their next contest, a 51-48 victory against Boyd Anderson on the 16th.
