Baseball Recap: Cypress Bay Victorious

Cypress Bay won the last time they faced South Plantation and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lightning had just enough and edged out the Paladins 4-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 7, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Cypress Bay got a great performance from Gabe Gener as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Gener also put up five hits, which were his first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Shane Lester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Diego Baron was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Cypress Bay's record now sits at 14-7. As for South Plantation, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cypress Bay will host Cooper City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Plantation, they will be playing at home against Plantation at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Colonels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.18 runs per game on average), something the Paladins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
