Softball Game Preview: Holy Spirit Spartans vs. Buena Chiefs

The Holy Spirit Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Buena Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Holy Spirit nor Buena posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Wednesday, Holy Spirit came up short against Absegami and fell 5-1. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Holy Spirit saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Berry, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Berry is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Buena was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 10-0 to Atlantic County Institute of Tech.

Holy Spirit's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Buena, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Holy Spirit took their victory against Buena when the teams last played on April 2nd by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
