Football Game Preview: Athens Academy Spartans vs. Providence Christian Academy Storm + How To Watch

Athens Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Providence Christian Academy since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spartans will face off against the Storm at 7:30 p.m. Athens Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Athens Academy's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-0 victory over Banks County. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five games by 21 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Athens Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Chap Chapman and his top target Keyon Standifer. Chapman threw for 141 yards and one touchdown while completing 88.9% of his passes while Standifer picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD. What's more, Chapman racked up 165.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.

Athens Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 378 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 43-9, which was the final score in Providence Christian Academy's tilt against Elbert County on Friday. The Storm were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.

This is the second loss in a row for Providence Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Athens Academy, their record now sits at 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Athens Academy against Providence Christian Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
